New Infocomm Learning Centres For Seniors
Today, two new infocomm learning hubs, called the Silver Infocomm Junctions (SIJ), are opened to further promote infocomm literacy among senior citizens. This is announced by RADM(NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Information, Communications and The Arts, and Ministry of Education at the annual Silver Infocomm Day. The Silver Infocomm Day is a special day dedicated to senior citizens who embrace and use infocomm in their daily lives. |

Single-Character Domain Names Now Possible
Businesses and consumers can soon look forward to a new range of domain names that will offer exclusivity and be easy to remember. The Singapore Network Information Centre (SGNIC), Singapore’s national registry for domain names, will release Single-Character Domain Names (SCDN) such as WWW.A.SG, WWW.B.SG, WWW.C.SG, based on the 26 letters in the English alphabet series.

Singapore and Kuwait Strengthen Co-operation in e-Government
The e-Government partnership between Singapore and Kuwait is further strengthened today when the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and Kuwait’s Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to facilitate co-operation in e-Government.

Blazing Ahead with Innovation - Singapore New Infocomm Champions Crowned
Fifteen companies were presented the National Infocomm Awards (NIA), the highest accolade for infocomm innovation in Singapore, for making their mark in infocomm development and innovative adoption of infocomm technology. The companies received their awards from RADM (NS) Lui Tuck Yew, Senior Minister of State for Education, and Information, Communications and the Arts, at the NIA gala dinner this evening. |

IDA Issues Call to Industry to Establish National Authentication Framework
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) today launched the National Authentication Framework (NAF) Call-For-Collaboration (CFC) for interested companies to submit their proposals. When appointed, in the first half of 2009, the selected CFC participants will implement a nationwide service that will offer consumers the enhanced security of two-factor (2FA) authentication without having to carry multiple devices as they do today with the various e-services they access. Submissions close on 30 January 2009. |
